confused? pulling your hair out? the hair crew are here to help.

where does the hair come from?

asian countries are the prime source of human hair used for extensions. the manufacturers take real hair from individuals with long hair and process it to have different textures, qualities, and colors. the finished product becomes a smooth, soft, and silky texture. we guarantee that the hair supplied by hair braids is 100% human hair!

what's the difference between weave and bulk hair?

human hair is supplied in two distinct types, weave and bulk.

weave hair is wefted, that is, it is sewn by machine stitches to a thin ribbon. here's a picture:

    what are they used for?

basically, if you want to have hair extensions then one way to do this is for the stylist to weave your own hair to form a platform (the track), to which the weave hair can be attached by stitching the weft to the track formed at the parting by the stylist. Another way to have extensions is by micro bonding, which means that the extension hair is more or less attached hair by hair, strand by strand. for this type of extensions bulk hair is used. usually micro bonding is much more expensive to perform. micro bonding techniques include bonding using glue (for temporary extensions), fusion using glue guns, infusion (where the hair comes with it's own bonding agent which bonds by applying heat, usually from hot tongs) and some patented methods.

weave hair is much more commonly used for extensions except where money is no object. master hair's infusion hair is the best infusion hair there is, it is applied using hot tongs as each individual strand of hair comes with it's own keratin bond ready attached. therefore is is very quick to apply with no mess from glues etc.

are they used in any other ways?

bulk hair is also used for braiding when the customer wants to braid with human hair

    how much do I need?

for a full head extension about two bags of human hair, sometimes slightly more, some times slightly less.

which styles are best for me?

this is very much up to personal preference, and should be discussed between the customer and stylist before making an appointment. however as a rough rule of thumb, silky is better for european hair types and yaki is better for afro hair types. afro-relaxed straight is good for afro hair that has been relaxed. this is also known as afro perm straight.

    what's so silky about silky?

both silky and yaki are very smooth silky hair, it's just that silky is slightly more.. silky. silky straight does not have quite the same volume as yaki straight. the basic idea is to get extension hair that matches your own hair type. yaki is also used by europeans who want to have 'big' hair with plenty of volume.

    what is master parting?

master parting is used in the 'closure' of weave hair. it is human hair which is attached to a base which is undetectable, and this is used to position the parting exactly as it would be on the human scalp. it gives a very natural finish to the hair extension. it is available in silky straight, afro relaxed straight, yaki straight, corkscrew, wet and wavy and sea wave. If you've been using relaxer on your hair and have now got the dreaded bald spot then master parting is the product for you, it doesn't move or blow off in the wind, no matter what activities you like to do, master parting stays where it's supposed to stay, giving you full confidence throughout the day (and night!).

what more can you tell me about this product?

we asked master hair to describe their product, and this is what they told us..

'Finally, a natural-looking parting which solves the problem of embarrassing weave endings. Before the invention of Master Parting, weaves which cover natural hair completely usually end in an unsightly hole, often with stitching clearly visible. Master Parting has solved that problem by creating a scalp-like unit, complete with human hair, which is sewn directly on to a flat cornrow base and surrounded by wefted hair. The result is natural - looking hair with a parting anywhere your client requires it. Master Parting comes in a variety of different shapes, sizes and colours and can be supplied with matching 100% human hair in different lengths and textures. It can be custom made for difficult cases and even covers bald patches'.

can you show me how it's done?

sure, here's a picture... with before and after!

what are the different types of straight synthetic hair?
the four basic types are soft & silky, 100% kanekalon, silky jumbo and yaki jumbo braid.

soft & silky and 100% kanekalon are premium types of synthetic hair using a type of synthetic which gives a very soft and smooth braid finish. with both soft & silky and 100% kanekalon you can create thin braid ends which stagger easily so that the braid ends taper smoothly to fine points. softex is actually made from kanekalon fibre and is extra treated to give the smoothest silky feel. both types seal with hot water or flame for natural braid endings. as both are made from the same material there is not much to choose between them, except that softex gives slightly more volume to braids.

standard braiding hair is less expensive and is good for all braid types. it also seals with hot water or flame.

the difference between silky jumbo and jumbo hair is that jumbo gives maximum volume while silky jumbo braids have the silkiest feel.

magic braid, s curl kanekalon, gauffre, elephant and ziggy braid are all used to create certain different types of braided hairstyles, for instance such as half way braiding.
